Genre Favorites Blogfest

Today is the Genre Favorites Blogfest hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh. One blogfest, four favorites!

We are supposed to list our favorite genre of: Movie, Music and Books. If you'd like to read more about this blogfest or see the other blogs participating, please go HERE.

Please forgive me for posting this so late...my Internet was out yesterday. Thank you, Time Warner.

Movies:

I would have to say my favorite genre of movie is action/adventure. I love a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Although, my favorite movie is The Princess Bride, which is not really in the action genre, per se.

Music:

I have very eclectic tastes in music. I like everything from jazz to country and blues to hip hop and even some rap. It really depends on my mood. Lately, I find myself listening to a lot of alternative. Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, The Killers, The Black Keys etc. The song I can't get enough of this week is Too Close by Alex Clare.

Books:

As for genre of books, well anything goes there too. I like mystery, murder, suspense, romance, YA, chick lit, and more. I think my favorite is probably Romance, which would be my guilty pleasure. I love a good fairytale ending.

What about you? Do you like these genres? Heard this song? Extra points if you can tell me which commercial it was on.

Have a great week!

I love the comedy in the Princess Bride. I still quote it from time to time. "Inconceivable!" Makes me smile.

Princess Bride, I'd forgotten that one. Loved it, but I think my husband enjoyed it more. We still like running across the reruns.

I love The Princess Bride. "I'm sorry Inigo, I'd didn't mean to jog him so hard."

The Black Keys are great as are The Killers. I am hard rock and Aeromith is my band forever and always. :)

I like Florence and The Black Keys. Never heard this song before but I DO like it.

The Princess Bride - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Actually, I just bought a copy and it's speeding it's way to me through the USPS, not too speedy down here in the Caribbean, but I should have it in my hands by the weekend.

I forced my son to watch The Princess Bride. He grumbled because it had the word "princess" in it. But he loved it! It's a great movie.

Jessica Salyer said...

Susan- I've made my kids watch it too. They love it now and even ask to watch it.

I quote The Princess Bride on a daily basis.

Mumford & Sons, Florence + The Machine, and the Black Keys are at the top of my music list too. I don't know what commercial the Alex Clare song is in but it was used last week on So You Think You Can Dance.

The Princess Bride is such a great flick. I've already made my kids watch it, and it's now one of their favorite movies as well. It has humor, action, and romance. So great. Another fave of mine in the same humor/action/romance arena... Romancing the Stone.

Such a fun blogfest today!

Grr, Time Warner. I'm thankful I have another option for cable (Wide Open West) where I live because Time Warner kept upping their charges.

Love that song Too Close! thanks for including the video. And you can't go wrong with The Princess Bride.

I too love romantic suspense. Nice to meet you on the hop and happy reading and writing!

The Princess Bride crosses genres. As they say in the book, "fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles."

Okay so I know the commercial is one they play on YouTube a lot, but it's one you can skip so I don't know what it's actually for. XD
