Insecure Writer's Support Group #5

This is my first IWSG post of the year. It's the monthly airing of all our writer insecurities; which as writers, there are a lot. Hosted by the brilliant Alex J. Cavanaugh.

I want to start this year out on a positive note. So, for this months post, I want to talk about this support group. I joined shortly after I started blogging. I was new to writing, blogging, and very unsure of what I was doing. Through this group I was able to meet a bunch of great people. It's been absolutely amazing to me how supportive everyone has been. The amount of kindness, support, and encouragement I've received has been invaluable. I only hope that I have given a someone the support that I have been shown.

Writing all my insecurities down, while incredible nerve racking, is also very therapeutic. To write down the issues you have and things that are bothering you, helps you work through them.

What have you gained from this group? Are you glad you joined?

I have met some wonderful people doing this monthly post. Mine is WE GUESS WITH OUR FEARS, on how to deal with the form rejection and how to write a winning query letter. Friday, the ghost of Mark Twain visits my blog, guesting on how to write a winning blog! Have a lovely 2012, Roland

I have been in the hospital five times this year. I am amazed a mom and a nurse has the energy to write at all let alone trying to a novel. Kudos! You are right about insecurities. I found I am too insecure to write about them very often which is a surprise to me. If it weren't for my wife no one would read me. I never thought of my self as insecure until I started cataloging the insecurities.

I just joined and am already in awe at the outpouring of well-wishes, advice, and kindness. I'm kindof kicking myself that I didn't start when I first heard about it. Thanks for sharing - new follower :)

I'm very new to the group but I'm already very glad I joined. My insecurity is intermittent - it vanishes with each acceptance, reappearing with every reject ... and I get a lot more rects then acceptances. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one to have doubts - and great to have made lots of new, supportive, blog friends.

That is wonderful!! This is why I started this group - to bring us all together for support and encouragement.

The most important thing to me is that this group makes me feel completely normal!

Thanks for your comment. I find it terribly encouraging when people take the time.

Keep going... We're all in this together! :)

I so agree with this. The amount of support I get from my fellow insecure writers is just wonderful. It really does help, doesn't it?

It's just so fantastic to feel that there's a network of people at the touch of a few laptop keys who can empathise with what you're feeling. The support is invaluable and so is the knowledge that just about everyone feels the same about what we're doing/trying to do!

Hi Jessica. I haven't joined the group yet, but I've learned so much from reading other blogs. I wish blogging had been around when I first started writing. It would have saved me years of mistakes and frustration trying to figure it all out! I love the supportive community of bloggers here!

Ugh... forgot to post my insecurities this month. I blame it on the plane ride that day. Christmas travels, woot, woot!

But yes, I totally agree with you... this group has been amazing! Its so helpful, just knowing that other people are struggling with the same things you are. (Sometimes we feel alone... like we're the only ones!) I've been overwhelmed at the support I've found in the online writing community. People I don't even know are cheering me on! How is that possible? I don't know why they're so amazing, but I'm thankful every day that they are!

Good luck with your work!!

P.s. New stalker alert!! ( ;
